The loss of a loved one whose life is taken by suicide is tragic. Finding resources to help navigate through the bereavement process of losing a loved one is hard and convoluted during an already difficult time.
We wrote a letter to the Honourable Mr. Everett Hindley, Minister of Mental Health & Addictions, to ensure that no other family would have to go through the troubling situation that we have gone through. Navigating the bureaucracy of social services in Saskatchewan during our time of grief was difficult.
If you or someone you know has also had the difficulty of navigating this troubling system, please know that we are advocating for you. If you would like to write your own letter to the Minister, we hope that you can find some inspiration in ours.
Attached, you will find two letters: our letter to the Honourable Mr. Everett Hindley, and his response.
